    • Khaplu valley Gilgit Baltistan  Khaplu (Urdu and Balti:خپلو), also spelt Khaplu is a town that serves as the administrative capital of the Ghanche District of Gilgit-Baltistan, in northern PakistanLying 103 km (64 mi) east of the town of Skardu, it was the second-largest kingdom in old Baltistan of the Yabgo dynasty. It guarded the trade route to Ladakh along the Shyok River. The Khaplu Valley is 103 kilometres (64 miles) from Skardu and two hours by jeep. It is a sprawling village located at the confluence of the Indus and the Shyok Rivers in Pakistan. Khaplu is a base for trekking into the Hushe valley which leads to Masherbrum mountains. Many famous mountains, such as Masherbrum, K-6, K-7, Sherpi Kangh, Sia Kangri, Saltoro Kangri and Siachen etc. are located there. Khaplu has been called many names like "Shyok Valley," "Ghangche" and "Little Tibet." In Khaplu there are many historical places like the beautiful Chaqchan Mosque (700 years old founded by Mir Sayyid Ali Hamadani, the first Islam preacher in this area). Raja Palace is a beautiful building and the last and best Tibetan-style palace in Pakistan. Khaplu Khanqah is attributed to Mir Mukhtar Akhyar and was built in 1712 AD/1124 AH. Khaplu is the gateway to Masherbrum Peak, K-7, K-6, Chogolisa for mountaineers and Gondogoro la, Gondogoro Peak, Saraksa Glacier, Gondogoro Glacier, Masherbrum Glacier, Aling Glacier, Machlu Broq, Thaely La, Daholi lake, Kharfaq Lake, Ghangche Lake and Bara Lake for trekkers. Khaplu is a scenic place for hiking like Khaplu Braq, Khaplu Thung and Hanjoor, Kaldaq, Kholi, Ehli. There is rafting on the Shyok River and rock climbing places like Biamari Thoqsikhar and DowoKraming (hot spring).

    • K2 Everyone is familiar with this mountain the second highest mountain in the world. But to make sure you should not forget the figures I am detailing some facts about K2. K2 has an average height of 8,611 meters above sea level. It is also known as  Mount Godwin-Austen. The local people call it “Chhogori”. “Chhogori” is a Balti word which means great or huge mountain. There is also a rumor that actually K2 is the highest mountain in the world but let keep it simple as always to be second highest. Nanga Parbat Nanga Parbat is also known as The killer Mountain. It is the ninth highest mountain in the world with an average elevation of 8,126 meters above sea level. It is the second Eight-Thousanders in Gilgit Baltistan. Gasherbrum I Gasherbrum is a Baltic word. It is also known as Hidden peak or K5, it is the 11th highest mountain in the world at an elevation of 8,080 meters above sea level. It is the third Eight-Thousanders in Gilgit Baltistan. Broad Peak Broad Peak is the 12th highest mountain in the world with an average height of 8,051 meters above sea level. It is located in the Karakorum mountain ranges on Pak-China border. It is the fourth Eight-Thousanders in Gilgit Baltistan. Gasherbrum II It is the 13th highest mountain in the world. It is also known as K4, at height of 8,035 meters above sea level. It is the last and fifth Eight-Thousanders in Gilgit Baltistan. Nestled between the western end of the Himalayas, the Hindu Kush mountains and the Karakoram range, Gilgit-Baltistan houses 18 of the world’s 50 highest peaks. It is also home to three of the world’s seven longest glaciers outside the polar regions. Hundreds of its mountains have never been climbed.
    • Gilgit Baltistan the land of Mountains is home to five eight-thousanders out of fourteen in the world. “Eight-Thousanders” is a fancy word which means the mountains having a total height greater than eight thousand meters. There are total fourteen mountains in the world which make to that height, and fortunately, five of which is situated in Gilgit Baltistan Northern areas of Pakistan. Gilgit Baltistan is being surrounded by the great mountain ranges of Karakoram,  Himalayas,  Hindu kush and Pamir ranges. The former three mountain ranges meet at a point in Gilgit Baltistan. The milky cape high mountains transforming into gold at morning and evening before the sunshine and after sunset is a fantastic view one  could have savored in life.
